I think Jim Chapman is a straight shooter and best fit to be mayor - but I also agree that we need someone with the strength to say that transportation is the most important thing for the city - and this includes enhancing the 401 industrial corridor. However if we are not on the high speed rail program and if we do not make provisions for a long term (20-30 year year) light rail scheme then we will have negative jobs and population growth especially compared with our neighbours on the 401 who are busy upzoning downtown and core neighbourhoods as well as corridors to provide the density to support light rail or atleast better bus transit.

I think murray faulker should run he nows how this city works go for it murray
J. David 1/28/2010 9:36:19 PM
Gary B--- Theres a reason Chapman is third and why the voters rejected him in 07. THINK!
Alex P 1/26/2010 4:55:02 AM
Chapman...!!! No Way...!!!
He`s a Pseudo Intellectual Blowhard...!!!
I`d add more but J.David pretty much summed it up...!!!
S. Lewis 1/26/2010 9:28:29 AM
It seems a lot of folks have forgotten what a disaster Wernham was as a councillor...as mayor he would be a catastrophe. Chapman would be even worse. There is a reason voters rejected Chapman in 2007 when he ran for MPP he is a right wing ideologue who cant be trusted to put the people before the profits of his corporate friends.
Brian R 1/26/2010 3:43:57 AM
Whoever is elected as Londons next Mayor they must be TRANSIT friendly. We as a community have fallen greatly behind in funding our transit system as compaired to other cities of our size.WHY NOT a referrendum vote declaring TRANSIT an essencial service place Unionized employees under CITY OF LONDON benefits package and let them arbitrate for their wages. Henceforth NO MORE STRIKES.
Gary B 1/26/2010 11:32:47 AM
Ive noticed that a lot of people are against Jim Chapman calling him nasty names. Why is it then that he is in third place with 20% of the vote. He is behind Barber with 22% and Wernham with 31%.
Also a vote for Barber and her NDP cronies will cost London the loss of more industry and jobs. Think about it folks!
Dave W. 1/25/2010 5:01:06 PM
VanMeerbergen would likely be the best choice as he is realistic and fiscally grounded. I cant imagine what London would be like with Gina Barber at the helm especially combined with the other NDP wannabes on council.
J. David 1/24/2010 9:17:46 PM
Chapman??? Not even for dog-catcher.Hes a loudmouth who hasnt had an original idea since he found Rush Limbaughs web-site.Nothing more than a blowhard with an I.Q. only marginally larger than his shoe size.
Jo 1/12/2010 8:44:10 AM
I think Paul Vanmeerbergen should be added to the list. He has a good business brain and loads of common sense. We do not need any more socialist councillors in this city. We need practical business people with good connections who will bring all kinds of jobs here. London needs to be known as a go-getter city for once. It has languished too long and is known councillors who only deal with petty issues.
mike 1/11/2010 10:59:35 PM
I think Wernham or Barber would be good for the city. Anyone But DeCicco-Best!!!
1/5/2010 4:07:55 AM
"Barber would be good"? John what are you thinking? Another socialist with no comprehension of what it takes to make a buck in the real world- just what we need as our mayor??? This is typical of the kind of uninformed voter that really has no idea what abilities and qualities are needed to get things done in politics. Many of the old guard are leaving but we will pay a high economic price as a community if we replace them with people who have been economically insulated from the real world (professors and teachers like Barber in the forefront).
Chapman is a loudmouth but I think Wernham would be a good mayor.
HW 1/4/2010 1:58:27 PM
I agree with 2 posted comments.
1 - London needs a lot of new blood with new ways of thinking to run our city. We need to prune a lot of the old branches off of councils tree. That includes Annie with her embarrassment of a husband.
2 - If any change is to happen people MUST get our and vote! Our last election had its most pathetic turnout ever. It takes only a few minutes of your time and it matters.
John 1/3/2010 8:32:13 PM
Why would we reach back to the old boys of the past with Wernham Polhill Gosnell or Fontana. They represent the kind of thinking that is bad for any sort of liveable London. And Chapman is just a loudmouth who doesnt know nearly as much as he thinks he does. Its great to see some of the old guard (Caranci Miller Hume) leaving to open up room for some more forward thinking representatives on Council. Barber would be good but she wont do it. Branscombe would be fine but I dont think her voting record is much different than DeCicco-Best. But in reality the mayor only gets one vote just like the rest of the councillors. So vote for a councillor who isnt just in it for themselves and their business associates.

Ted Wernham
12/31/2009 7:52:35 AM
Ted Wernhams passion for politics will lead us to a great place. I vote for Ted!
Transit Operator 12/31/2009 2:32:00 AM
With the past Transit strike maybe we should have a referendum vote that involves including Transit as a essential service.Place Unionized workers under the umbrella benefits package of City Of London workers and arbitrate their wages to stop the threat of strikes and city disruption. Would this not benefit ALL.
12/31/2009 2:21:16 PM
I think I vote for Jim Chapman. I am in the process of getting to know him better. We need something different.
It seems obvious that we are unable to manage our own affairs. I wonder if Hazel McCallion from Mississauga is looking for a new challenge.
Gary 12/29/2009 5:07:41 PM
In Ted we trust! His experience alone is outstanding. We works hard for the public. His guidence has always been right on the money.
Wendy 12/29/2009 4:56:38 PM
I truly feel that Ted will work hard for usbecause that is how he operates!I totaly respect his ability to make decisions his loyaltyexperience and common sence. GO TED !!
Sean H. 12/29/2009 1:16:48 PM

Monica 12/28/2009 8:29:05 AM
My vote is for Gina Barber!!! I think shed be great..doesnt hurt thats shes a fabulous aunt too!!!!!!
12/28/2009 12:36:33 PM
Supporting Ted Wernham. He is the obvious choice!
Alex Naddafian 12/28/2009 11:26:11 AM
Gina Barber is a lifelong devoted person who contributed her life and her times as a teacher as a community activist and as a leader to our beloved city of London. She would be one of the greatest mayors of London with her knowledge and her understanding of our community.
Barry 12/28/2009 8:45:18 AM
My vote is for Gina Barber.
Little Al 12/27/2009 1:05:08 PM
I really would like to see Paul Van Meerbergen run for mayor but I dont think he will because its a full time job. And really why would a man with a successful career and good business sense give that up to head up that bunch of spend-thrift misfits at City Hall? Would you?
cat 12/26/2009 1:46:44 AM
I would like to suggest Paul Vanmeerberg or Bud Polehill for mayor. Both of these gentlemen understand the need for fisical restraint in these economic times. Why can London not have a 0 tax increase? Thanks.
Ahmed 12/26/2009 5:23:18 AM
Joe is the mayor for me.
I got 8 vote in my family for you Joe
12/26/2009 6:39:05 AM
I cant believe the people of London need another media personality. Wake up people and start electing individuals with experience and political ability.
12/24/2009 2:02:15 PM
Ted can do what is required to get us out of this mess we are in!
brian 12/24/2009 1:18:08 PM
it is time to clean house. our city govt has made a joke of our city & its voters. our mayor never misses a photo op OR face time on tvbut continues to embarrass us with the blunders made at city halldamshusband etc etc. our voters have to wake up to the fact that we have to all(not just30 or 40 percent of us)get out & vote this time. it is our tax dollars they are wasting.
Tamp 12/24/2009 8:32:53 AM
This city needs some new blood badly the folks we have now spent a week debating the ban on water bottles which is none of their business in the first place. We are the proud owners of the title of Canadas second highest taxed city in the country Thats not something to be proud of in my opinion. Liberal thinking leads to Liberal problems enough already.
12/24/2009 6:46:47 AM
tell your friends about this web site. Why are people voting for Anne Marie? The site is called Draft a Mayor and she doent need to be drafted shes already said shes running. It should be for people you think should be running but might not otherwise.
Scotty 12/24/2009 9:44:04 AM
I am behind Jim Chapman 100% Go Jim! Merry Christmas.
Briboy 12/23/2009 7:52:35 AM
Jim Chapman.
I listened to Jim on his old radio show for many years. I almost always agreed with his thoughts on an enormous range of subjects. If he has the ability to carry out his ideas in spite of the other members of council he could show himself to be the leader we have a need for.
We need to look at privatising some of our services and I think jim would make good decisions
Nick 12/23/2009 3:28:43 PM
Dufferin Street needs a much bigger shake-up than just a new mayor.
Firstly London needs a council that understands the role and responsibilities of municipal government. There are too many councillors that use their position for advancing their pet agendas instead of prioritizing and addressing the genuine issues associated with running the City. These individuals waste City staff time and resources chasing their quixotic initiatives.
Secondly City managers and their subordinates need to be held more accountable. These are the people that make recommendations to council and are ultimately the people responsible for spending the City budget. Poor decision making at this level costs taxpayers significantly every year.
While a new mayor is certainly in order unless there is a serious changeover in council and City management we’re doomed to more of the same woeful governance that we’ve suffered through for the past decade.
George 12/23/2009 8:37:38 AM
Jim Chapman will keep things honest and focused on real issues in the community.
12/23/2009 8:21:43 AM
I think an underdog like Joe Fontanna would really get the job done. What has Jim Chapman done - opinion is easy to give but can he act can he make change and does he have the guts to make the tough and unpopular decisions that city council is expected to do?
Londonneedsanewmayor 12/23/2009 8:16:41 AM
Former MP Joe Fontana would bring a lot of political experience to the job. He served our city well on a national level and I think he would do a good job running city hall. He had my vote in 2006. If he runs again he will still have my vote.
Same for me but it seems the bleeding hearts want Barber and i have no ideal why. Wake Up London and get a real politician who wants the best for the city!!!!!!!!!!
12/23/2009 7:50:43 AM
This council needs to go. If you have to bring in a watchdog to ensure everyone is on the up and up what does that say about the way you run your staff? It says you have no control or dont want the responsibility to deal with anyone that is crooked. Fire them!!! No package no warning. Simple as that. We need to wipe out this council and start fresh. The taxes are beyond pathetic. We have families losing their jobs barely hanging on to their homes going to the food bank to provide for their families and our council wants to increase water sewer and property taxes. We are in no position to give ourselves pay hikes. This is absolutely disgusting. Have you stopped any needless spending during this recession? Probably not. I would love to see an itemized list of all the spending this council has done or approved over the years in office...Jim Chapman Im in your corner.
12/23/2009 7:22:49 AM
No matter who wins the job will be tough because people are never happy. Most candidates dont have the guts to get down to it and make the decisions instead of putting everything on the back burner or forming endless committees. Chapman will do what it takes. Go Jim.
Paul 12/23/2009 7:19:45 AM
Jim has my vote.
Paul 12/23/2009 7:17:09 AM
Gina Barber is anti gun. She supported Mayor Millers ridiculous notion of a gun free city believing this would control criminal use of guns. What nonsense. She is a follower a coattail rider someone simply looking for the limelight; she is not a leader.
Londonneedsanewmayor 12/23/2009 6:24:29 AM
What is wrong here why can we not vote for someone with experience someone who knows how the federal government works an ex labor mp for a town that needs to grow up and realize their not a small hic town anymore. Canons shooting water in the river are all nice and stuff but perhaps the money could be used to create work not art in the park?
12/23/2009 5:58:05 AM
Anne Marine is a fitting name for her - she is going to take a dive!
I moved here from Mississauga many years ago and Hazel had 0% tax increases through those years.
What a shocker to move to London and have sometimes double digit % increases ?
Spend Spend Spend lets all go bankrupt together! We are in a recession and if anything taxes should go DOWN and wages should be FROZEN.
And follow Hazels approach - go on strike during tough times and as Trump would say - YOUR FIRED. Get a private company to run our buses collect our garbage - and more.
12/23/2009 5:37:29 AM
Former MP Joe Fontana would bring a lot of political experience to the job. He served our city well on a national level and I think he would do a good job running city hall. He had my vote in 2006. If he runs again he will still have my vote

Jim has one mean girls vote!
Magnum Man 12/23/2009 7:05:51 PM
Honesty and Integrity thats what we need! Thats why we need Jim Chapman for Mayor.
